Explanation

In June 2026, Pakistan launched ground operations and airstrikes inside Afghanistan.

The strikes targeted militant hideouts belonging to factions such as Jamaat-ul-Ahrar and the Pakistan Taliban (TTP) in the Afghan provinces of Paktia, Paktika, and Kunar.

Pakistan stated the operation was in response to deadly cross-border attacks inside Pakistan, including an assault on a paramilitary base in Karachi.
