Let the price of one marker = M

Let the price of one pen = P

3M + P = 340  ...(1)

4M + 2P = 560  ...(2)

Divide equation (2) by 2:

2M + P = 280  ...(3)

Subtract equation (3) from equation (1):

(3M + P) − (2M + P) = 340 − 280

M = 60

Substitute M = 60 into equation (1):

3(60) + P = 340

180 + P = 340

P = 340 − 180

Rs. 160
